On the average, how many individual hair follicles are there, on the human scalp?

Human skin usually has about 700-1000 active hairs growing per square inch on the scalp...

And another 4,000 - 6,000 dormant hairs.

Take 锜簉^2...

So my head is 42.25 square inches...

(I actually measured just for you!)

Thus, 42.25 x 1000 = 42,250 active hairs

Thus, 42.25 x 5000 = 211,250 dormant hairs

Thus, 42.25 x 6000 = 253,500 total hairs

And there are between 1-3 hairs per follicle...

So, 253,500 / 2 = 126,750

The approximate number of hair follicles on my scalp...

:-))

On the average, how many individual hair follicles are there, on the human scalp?

On the average, how many individual hair follicles are there, on the human scalp?
