Would you expect the cells of your hair follicles to contain more ribosomes than a cell that stores

Hair will grow without stop so proteins production machinery, ribosome plays an important role in hair folicles. Structural proteins are produced mainly.

As for adipose cells, fats are transported here for storage purpose. So no extra proteins synthesis except for the maintenance of cells' normal functions.

Would you expect the cells of your hair follicles to contain more ribosomes than a cell that stores fat?why?

Im just guessing.. I think the answer is Yes. Because hair is mainly protein and ribosomes are the ones in charge of making proteins. Fat cells mainly store fat hence there is a lesser need for ribosomes.. =)

i think ,yes ,as hair is keratin . I mean , it's protein in nature %26amp; as we know that the ribosomes are the factories of synthesis of protein so hair follicles need alot of ribosomes, while the adipose tissue cells that store fat are of lower need of protein .

Would you expect the cells of your hair follicles to contain more ribosomes than a cell that stores fat?why?

the hair is basically made up of a proteinaceous substance called keratin and the ribosomes in conjuntion with the 3 different kinds of RNA(mRNA,tRNA,rRNA) are the protein factories of the cell. hence there is an increased incidence of ribosomes in the hair follicles to facilitate quick growth and regeneration of hair in case of a damage.

the adipose tissue that stores fat,i.e. subcutaneously or around the visceral organs for protection has lesser need for proteins as it's basic function is insulation or protection and not structural integrity which is maintained by the proteins.
