Female Hair Loss Question: Sore Scalp & Tons of Hair Falling Out. HELP!?

For the past year I have been experiencing a sore scalp in a male balness pattern. You know...in the front top of my scalp in a U shape. Its getting really bad. Not so much receeding anymore but taking a deeper U shape. When ever my scalp gets sore in this area my hair falls out quite rapidly and with barely any touch. I falls out from the follicle. When the soreness goes away, my hair stops falling out. Sometimes my scalp gets so sore that it hurts just to move my hair from side to side. Anybody every experience this or heard of it?

Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.

i don't know if this will be of much help but you can go to your doctor and asked to be tested for thyroid problems. if you are having trouble with your thyroid (hypothyroid- under active)it can cause hair loss, dry skin, weird periods, dullness of mind (you feel slow and stupid), slow heart rate, etc. i'm hypothyroid and when my levels aren't where they should be my skin gets terribly dry and i start loosing hair something awful. i'm not sure what the symptoms are for hyperthyroid (over active), but i know you can loose hair from that too. good luck

it could be a symptom of a number of things, such as thyroid as suggested. Also, you might want to be considering your nutrition... specifically if you have lost weight, or have cut back anything in your diet. Female hair loss is also related to age (specifically women in their 20s and 30s). Finally, it could be a skin problem, such as psoriasis. Your best bet would be to see a doctor...

First stop using the shampoos. Many shampoos and other products contain harsh harmful ingredients and medicated shampoos are even worse and can result in inflamation of the scalp and hair loss (See below). Another cause of problem is washing hair too frequently which removes beneficial natural oils, harms scalp and also causes loss. This NATURAL treatment will stop the itching and soreness and loss almost immediately. You will find that shampoos have blocked the hair ducts (they appear as small, sometimes painful spots). Massage scalp with natural oils - olive oil is excellent and a natural healer and is beneficial for every type of skin- and then brush as strongly as you are able so that you feel it stimulating scalp to a degree - preferably each day. It will be a little painful for the first day or two but that will go away. Initially you might experience a little shedding but it will quickly stop in a day or two. This will unblock hair ducts and remove dead follicles. If you leave oil on when you sleep this will increase the benefit. You will need to wash out oil (because of treatment - washing daily will not be detrimental). Do web searches "Shampoos harmful?" MANY contain sodium laurel sulphate, sodium laureth sulphate and propylene glycol, all of which are harmful. First two are dangerous and both damage hair follicles and cause hair loss. They also harm eyes.- the eye stinging you get is telling you that. Fetuses subjected to these substances do not develop functioning eyes, and both can cause cataracts in adults. Propylene glycol is a known skin irritant and is thought to cause mouth ulcers. It also damages the kidneys and liver. Do a web search for safe, non harming, non toxic products. You can buy online and some are available in health food stores or Walmart and some other big stores.(See Yahoo Shopping also)
