So I was combing my hair today and pulled out one of my hairs and I was kinda looking at it and closer to the follicle of the hair, it looked much lighter than the end of the hair. Does that mean I'm already started go get gray hair or could it just be something else? I'm only 19! There's no way my hair color could be changing already.....right?! AH! Please help before I freak myself out, lol.
Thanks in advance everyone! :)
How do you know when your hair "begins" to turn gray?
I'm sure you're fine. Hair gets porus at the ends of the hair shaft. Which means it has damange from heat, sun, chemicals, etc. Making ends of your hair a little darker then the roots. Roots always tend to look lighter then the rest. When you hair "begins" to turn grey, it will gradually lose its tone level. Your hair will slowly get lighter until it goes grey. You will not wake up one morning and suddenly have grey hair, it takes time to lose its natural color.

You can start getting an occasional gray hair in your twenties. When it become a case of "how can you not know?" you'll just accept it as a fact of life.
Then, when I mentioned mine (cos I have plenty) people try to cheer you up with "Ohhhh, but you still have hair!".
I'd like to dye mine it's original color. Now if I could just remember what that was!

Don't freak out and quit pulling your hair out LOL !
I was 14 and a stressful event resulted in a streak of white/grey hair coming out from the stress..... it stopped there...so I always thought it was cool.
I have a friend who turned prematurely grey around 25. She just let it grow naturally, but finally colored it.
Dont panic, evey hair on your head isn't exactly the same color anyway, and whatever it is, there is a stylist somewhere that can make you hair look the way you want it too !
